2016 Dodge Durango Overview

The 2016 Dodge Durango is a full-size SUV that seats up to 7 passengers across three rows. It competes with the Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer, and Honda Pilot.

Five trims are available: the SXT, SXT Plus, Limited, R/T, and Citadel.

The Durango has an imposing appearance with its large crossbar grille and wide-mouth fascia. At the rear, the taillights are unified by a three-piece lamp unit that stretches across the liftgate. For a more aggressive appearance, the Durango has an available Blacktop Package which includes unique 20-inch black wheels and smoked headlights. The Limited trim gets a newly available Brass Monkey Appearance Package includes 20-inch bronze-finished rims, a body color-trim grille, and smoked headlights. Standard features include front fog lights, power/heated side mirrors, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. Available features include a trailer hitch receiver, HID headlights, turn signal indicators at the side mirrors, a power moonroof, a power liftgate, and a dual-pipe exhaust system.

Under the hood, the Durango is powered by a standard 295-hp, 3.6-liter V-6 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear- (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The R/T trim has a standard 370-hp, 5.7-liter V-8 engine that delivers 395 lb-ft of torque. Maximum towing capacity for the Durango is 7,100 lbs. Fuel economy for V-6/RWD models is an EPA-estimated 19/27 mpg city highway. It slightly drops to an 18/25 mpg rating for V-6/AWD models. With the V-8 equipped, the fuel economy rating lowers further to 14/22 mpg.

Inside, the Durango features a standard cloth interior with a 60/40 split-folding second-row bench seat and a 50/50 split-folding third-row seat. The second-row bench seat can be swapped with an available pair of captain’s chairs. The center stack features a standard audio system that include a 5-inch touchscreen, CD/MP3 playback, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, and a USB port. It can be upgraded with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, an integrated navigation system, and Siri Eyes Free mode. Standard features include tri-zone automatic climate control and remote keyless entry. Available features include leather upholstery, a memory seat, heated front and second-row seats, heated steering wheel, remote vehicle start, a rear DVD entertainment system, and adaptive cruise control.

The Durango earned a 4/5-star overall crash test safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Standard safety features include a backup camera and a tire pressure monitoring system. Available features include adaptive suspension, a blindspot warning system, rear cross-traffic alert, and forward collision warning.
